When people are facing crisis, confusion is often part of the problem.
Someone looking for housing support may also need transportation. A parent searching for food assistance may also be navigating childcare challenges, healthcare issues, or a mental health crisis. A person entering recovery may spend hours trying to determine which services are still active, affordable, or accepting new clients.
Too often, people in vulnerable situations are forced to navigate fragmented systems at the exact moment they have the least capacity to do so.
That reality is one of the reasons AARC exists.
For years, AARC has worked to help individuals, families, providers, and community organizations across Michiana connect with reliable, up-to-date information about local resources and support systems. Our mission has never simply been to “list services.” It has been to reduce barriers between people and the help they need.
Recently, that work was highlighted in a client spotlight published by Acolyte Applications:
Client Spotlight: Right Foundation / AARC
We are grateful for the recognition — not because attention itself matters, but because it highlights an issue that often goes overlooked: community resource infrastructure matters.

The Hidden Problem Behind Social Services
Most people only see social services from the outside. What they often do not see is how difficult it can be to maintain accurate, accessible, and coordinated information across an entire region.
Organizations change hours. Programs lose funding. Eligibility requirements shift. Phone numbers become outdated. New services emerge while others disappear.
Without constant maintenance and coordination, resource systems quickly become unreliable.
For community members, that can lead to frustration, wasted time, missed opportunities for support, or giving up entirely.
For providers, it creates duplicated effort, inefficient referrals, and additional strain on already stretched organizations.
AARC’s work sits at the intersection of those challenges.
Building Systems That Help People Faster
As the needs across our region have grown, we recognized that maintaining a useful resource network requires more than good intentions. It requires strong systems.
That is why we partnered with Acolyte Applications to improve the digital infrastructure supporting our resource directory and community information tools.
This work has focused on creating systems that are:
- Easier for community members to navigate
- More sustainable to maintain over time
- More accessible across devices and user needs
- Better organized for partner organizations and providers
- Flexible enough to evolve alongside changing community conditions
Technology alone does not solve poverty, housing instability, mental health challenges, or substance use recovery.
But better systems can reduce friction. They can shorten the distance between someone needing help and someone able to provide it. They can make community support more visible, coordinated, and accessible.
That matters.

Why This Work Is Important in Michiana
The Michiana region has an enormous number of organizations doing meaningful work every day. But like many communities, the system can feel fragmented for the people trying to navigate it.
Someone may need to contact multiple agencies before finding the right fit. Providers may not always know what neighboring organizations currently offer. Families often spend valuable time repeating their stories across disconnected systems.
AARC’s role is to help make those connections easier.
We believe community resource navigation should be:
- Clear
- Reliable
- Dignified
- Accessible
- Community-centered
Behind every accurate resource listing or successful referral is a larger goal: helping people spend less time searching and more time receiving support.
Recognition Reflects Collective Work
The feature from Acolyte Applications highlights part of the work happening behind the scenes to strengthen that infrastructure. But this work is deeply collaborative. It depends on nonprofit organizations, healthcare providers, recovery services, schools, faith communities, government agencies, volunteers, and community advocates all contributing to a broader network of support.
No single organization solves these challenges alone. Strong communities are built through coordination, trust, information-sharing, and relationships.
Looking Ahead
As AARC continues to grow, we remain focused on improving how people across our region connect with services and support.
That means continuing to:
- Strengthen our resource systems
- Improve accessibility and usability
- Support regional collaboration
- Maintain accurate and trustworthy information
- Build tools that reduce barriers for community members
We are thankful to Acolyte Applications for recognizing this work and for being a thoughtful partner in helping us build stronger systems for the community.
