A Community Tradition That Gives Back: Thank You to Winding Brook Park

Every holiday season, communities create traditions that bring people together.

Some traditions are built around gatherings. Others around food, music, or celebration.

In the Winding Brook Park neighborhood, one tradition has become something even larger: a way for the community to support local nonprofits while creating joy for thousands of people throughout the Christmas season.

This year, AARC was honored to be one of the charities supported through the annual Winding Brook Park Christmas Lights fundraiser.

Thanks to the generosity of visitors and supporters, the fundraiser brought in approximately $4,000 to support AARC’s work in the community.

We are deeply grateful to everyone involved, especially the residents of Winding Brook Park, for creating such a meaningful and impactful event.

More Than a Christmas Lights Display

Anyone who has visited the Winding Brook Park Christmas Lights display knows it is something special.

Each year, the neighborhood transforms into a stunning holiday experience filled with lights, creativity, and community spirit. Families drive through together. Children experience the excitement and wonder of the season. Friends and neighbors gather to share in something joyful.

But what makes the event especially meaningful is that it is not only about celebration.

It is also about generosity.

The display has become a way for the community to directly support local nonprofits and organizations working to strengthen the region year-round.

That spirit of community care is something we deeply value at AARC.

What Community Support Really Means

For nonprofit organizations, support like this matters far beyond the dollar amount itself.

Yes, the $4,000 raised through the fundraiser will help strengthen AARC’s ability to connect individuals and families with critical resources, support systems, and recovery services.

But it also represents something larger:

  • people choosing to invest in their community
  • neighbors supporting neighbors
  • families turning celebration into generosity
  • a local tradition creating real local impact

Community support is often built through moments exactly like this. Not massive national campaigns. Not distant institutions.

Ordinary people deciding to contribute to something meaningful together.

Gratitude to the Winding Brook Park Neighborhood

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the residents and organizers behind the Winding Brook Park Christmas Lights display for selecting AARC as one of this year’s supported charities.

Events like this do more than raise funds.

They create connection.
They build community pride.
They remind people that local action can create meaningful change.

And during a season when many individuals and families may be struggling quietly, that message matters.

To everyone who visited the display, donated, volunteered, or helped spread the word: thank you.

Your generosity is helping strengthen a more connected, compassionate, and supportive community for all.
