AARC's Trauma-Informed Community Programs Coordinator, Cathy Dietz, recently attended the WV Center for Children’s Justice Handle with Care Conference in Charleston, WV!
The conference focused on a trauma-informed response to child maltreatment and children’s exposure to violence.
The goal is to provide HWC coordinators with current information to better help serve those in our communities who experience child abuse, neglect and violence.
With over 50 presenters, sessions included topics on the investigation, prosecution, and resolution of child abuse cases as well as trauma, Handle with Care, child trafficking, domestic violence, online child exploitation, self-care, autism spectrum disorder, drug trends, families experiencing substance use disorder and substance abuse treatment.
Through networking opportunities, attending breakout sessions and learning about best practices in implementing Handle With Care, Cathy will be able to continue her efforts of getting HWC up and running throughout all of St. Joseph County.
